Lifeguard is hailed worldwide

The rescuer dug with his hands for three days in a desperate attempt to save 5-year-old Rayan, who fell into a 32-meter-deep well in the village of Ighrane in the Chefchaoen commission in Morocco. He is now hailed as a hero for his efforts, despite the tragic outcome.

Aid crews worked for five days to reach Rayan, while the risk of landslides was sky high. They finally reached the boy on Sunday night, which gave a faint hint of optimism that the boy could have survived the accident.

Nevertheless, the dramatic rescue operation ended in tragedy for the boy’s family, after it became known that Rayan died before the rescuers managed to reach him.

Digged with his hands

One rescuer in particular, referred to as Bwa Sahraoui, is now being hailed worldwide for his efforts, writes Daily Mail.

«Unreal. Not all heroes wear robes. Great respect to Bwa Sahraoui, who dug for Rayan for three days while risking his own life “, writes a Twitter user.

Another user added: “May God reward this man and give him a place in paradise”, while one third called him a “real hero.”

The boy accidentally fell down the well on Tuesday, and the action was demanding due to the depth of the well and the narrow shaft.

In recent days, excavators have had to remove large masses around the well, and on Saturday rescue crews went into a horizontal tunnel that they made to get to the place where Rayan was.
