Vålerenga and the French Ligue 1 club Lorient have agreed on a loan agreement for Taofeek Ismaheel. The talented winger made his big breakthrough in the OBOS league last year, and in 31 games for Fredrikstad, the 21-year-old scored 13 goals and had seven assists.
Lorient agreed with Fredrikstad and secured the signature of Ismaheel at the very end of the deadline day, and shortly after, Vålerenga also agreed with the French club on a loan agreement until the summer.
The Nigerian has undergone the medical check in both France and Norway and is in place in Portugal with the rest of the squad.
The loan agreement with Lorient runs from 1 February to 30 June, and sports manager Jørgen Ingebrigtsen is happy that the young boy will visit the capital before continuing his career in Europe.
– We are very pleased with the agreement that has now been signed. Ismaheel had a brilliant season in Fredrikstad last year, and has naturally been a sought-after man. It is a good reinforcement for us into the first part of the season, and gives us even better time to find a more permanent solution, says Ingebrigtsen and continues:
– We have been looking for an offensive player who can strengthen our front link. Taofeek has an X-factor, and can, somewhat depending on the match picture, occupy all positions at the top, he concludes.
We warmly welcome Taofeek to Vålerenga, and look forward to seeing him in royal blue (maybe already in the match against Halmstad on Tuesday)!
