When adults say “eh!” for food

Only in his 30s did Øystein Engen dare to taste something other than Nugatti on the slice of bread.

Discerning adults are ashamed, research shows.

The reaction comes with new flavors. The whole body hardens. The neck tightens, Øystein Engen (39) gets a feeling of vomiting and involuntarily makes grimaces in pure disgust. For example, he will never taste sushi. Or onions. The fear is great that it will be so terribly painful, that he throws up all over the table.

– Fortunately, it has never happened! But I think it is better to avoid the taste than to experience what I think will happen, he says.
