Evenly played against FC Krasnodar

On Sunday afternoon, Vålerenga played the first training match of the year when Russian Krasnodar was the opponent in Marbella.

Odin Thiago Holm played a solid role in the center of the field.

Dag-Eilev Fagermo’s crew got off to the best start, and was the leading team in the first half hour. The guys were good defensively and also created several great opportunities offensively. The closest was Seedy Jatta after 18 minutes played, but the finish was blocked to the corner.

Krasnodar played more and more into the match throughout the round, and two minutes before the break Eduard Spertsyan put in 1-0 for the Russians. That was also the position when the teams went into the locker room.

The second round ended goalless, but despite the 0-1 loss, it is very much positive to take with you from this year’s first training match. Vegar Eggen Hedenstad, Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason and Petter Strand all made their debut in royal blue, and many young boys got to try their hand against a good Russian team in the middle of the season.

– I am very happy with a lot of what we do today, especially defensively. In addition, it is gratifying to see that the young boys who enter the second round do as well as they do, says Fagermo and adds:

– We got many good pictures from the match today that we can take with us to work on in the time to come.

Vålerenga will soon set course for Portugal and the Atlantic Cup, where the first opponent is Danish Brøndby on February 4 at 16.00. You can follow all Vålerenga’s matches in the run-up to VGTV or Direktesport.
