Missing a traffic accident – large-scale search operation underway

Monday drove a car off the road at Stord. The next day, a search was launched for the man who the police believe was driving the car, after he was reported missing by family.

On Friday night, the search is still going on on a large scale, and the coming storm makes the police worried about the man’s condition.

– We do not know what may have happened. He was not found near the car, says operations manager Brit Randulff to TV 2 on Friday night.

The man is in his 30s, and has an address in Stord, according to Haugesunds Avis.

Searching with drones and dogs

At 9 pm on Friday, voluntary search crews are still being sought, under the leadership of the police.

The fire service has been involved in the search with drones, in addition to rescue dogs, lifeboats and the Red Cross also participating.

The operations manager says that they apply both on land and at sea.

– Do you suspect that the missing person may have been injured after the accident?

– It is completely impossible to say. We have no specific information indicating that he is injured.

Fear bad weather

This coming weekend, storms are expected in several places in the country. This makes it uncertain whether the search can continue on the same scale.

– We can not expose the exploration crews to disproportionate risk, Randulff says.

According to the operations manager, the search will end around 11.30 pm on Friday, before a new assessment is made of how further exploration will take place.
