Carp documentary on the way

Not before has Karpe launched his own film project, called “Omar Sheriff”, before there is a grant for another documentary – called “Chirag & Magdi”.

RAP: What is the name of the group of Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid and Chirag Rashmikant Patel?

The two directors Tommy Gulliksen and Erik Treymann have received one and a half million kroner in grants from Norwegian Film Institute for the documentary , which is said to be about «love, career – and Carp».

It follows the two rappers through the two dramatic years where they invest all of their money and time in a comprehensive show that will be performed for 100 people in their newly purchased property Festiviteten in Skien.

“The project was supposed to be the gift of the times to the fans and a creative awakening after 20 years as artists, but almost cost them their careers and friendships,” says the production company Oslo Pictures’ review of “Chirag & Magdi”, which has a total budget of close to 4, 7 million kroner.

Gulliksen has previously made both critical social documentaries as well as music documentaries such as “When the bones turn to jelly” about Raga Rockers. Treimann has made a number of music videos, including for Kvelertak, Lars Vaular and Susanne Sundfør.

Previously, Karpe has been behind the very well received film «Goodbye Montebello» (2017), a mix of concert film, documentary and fiction directed by Thea Hvistendahl. Recently, the group announced that they are working on the project «Omar Sheriff» , described as a cinematic universe and directed by Kavar Singh.

Through several different short videos in an “unstoppable loop”, several songs such as “Salmalaks”, “Kenya” and “Iboprofen” are presented, reports TV 2.
