This is revealed by Brækhus in a press release from the sponsor Betsson. Also VG has discussed the matter.

The longtime boxing queen was dethroned when she lost two straight fights against Jessica McCaskill, most recently in March last year. Before the meetings with the American, Brækhus had won all 36 of his professional matches.

Brækhus tells VG that she will extend her career at least until 2022. She will box in super welterweight, one weight class up from the one she ravaged for many years.

– It is by no means a hasty decision. I have concluded that it is the best for my further career. It has become harder and harder to reach the weight limit. Outside of combat, I have a weight of about 75 kilos, says Brækhus.

The weight limit in welter weight is 66.7 kilos.

Brækhus is now staying in Chicago and has started the run-up to his next match.

– I want to end my career with a World Cup belt. Due to covid, his career has been extended for at least a year, says the 40-year-old.
