Kicked on the door, then everything turned black: – I woke up and felt the blood splash

– I thought that now my time has come. I tried to push against the jet of blood, but I had no chance to hold back. It just pumped out, says a 35-year-old man from the witness box in Oslo District Court.

He remembers little from the chaotic minutes on a Monday afternoon in April almost two years ago.

– The door flew open

Together with two friends, he had taken a taxi to an apartment at Ammerud in Oslo.

One friend is the brother of the 36-year-old man who lived in the apartment, and who is now charged with two attempted murders.

The defendant’s brother had received messages indicating that the defendant was violent towards his cohabitant.

Because the defendant was also intoxicated, his brother wanted to take two friends to his apartment. He feared that his brother would be aggressive and dangerous.

Arriving at the apartment, the three men, who were all well known to the police from before, tried to knock on the door. When they did not get an answer, they kicked hard at the door. Inside the apartment, the 36-year-old was terrified, according to his own explanation.

– I went all the way into the hallway, and then there was an even more powerful kick. I was very surprised when the door flew open, he explains in court.

– Became black for me

The comrades of the defendant’s brother, who are the two offended in the case, have, in contrast to the 36-year-old, explained that he stormed out the door.

Pictures from the scene show that the door locking mechanism was damaged during the incident, but the police have not been able to determine whether it originated from a kick from outside.

While the 36-year-old explains that he was attacked by his brother’s friends, the two have both explained that the 36-year-old immediately attacked with a knife.

– I just remember that I kicked in the door, then it was black for me. I woke up on the floor and felt that blood was splashing from the side of my upper body, the 35-year-old explains.

The defendant’s brother had the 35-year-old dragged into another apartment and called for an ambulance. At the same time, the defendant turned to the last person outside the door, a 30-year-old man.

Tok tak i knivblad

According to the 30-year-old, he fell backwards when the knife blade cut him in the forearm. While lying down, he got the knife aimed at his throat.

– I grabbed the knife blade and tried to push it away from me, but I noticed by the fingers gave in. He said to me “now you have ten seconds left to live”, but then I see NN (defendant’s cohabitant) strangle him. She said “run”, and I got out, says the 30-year-old.

The accused man has a different version. He believes that the men approached him because he had stolen five liters of GBL, the active ingredient in GHB, from them.

According to the accused, the men burst into his apartment, while blows and kicks shot at him.

– I got to my feet and got hold of the knife. I ran towards them and hit [35-åringen] in the chest. [30-åringen] continued to attack me, but I grabbed his sweater and stabbed him in the stomach. He just collapsed, and I fell on top of him, the defendant explains in court.

– When I pulled the knife out of him, he started fighting. He writhed in panic and kicked at me. I felt someone trying to tear me away, so I got up and saw it was [tiltaltes samboer], he says.

Shortly afterwards, the police were in place and arrested the 36-year-old inside his own apartment. The man lay on the ground and allowed himself to be apprehended without further drama.

Risks custody

In the indictment against the 36-year-old, public prosecutor Trude Antonsen has made a reservation that she may file a claim for a custodial sentence.

The reason is, among other things, that forensic psychiatrists Synne Sørheim and Pål Grøndahl believe there is a great risk of new serious crime if the accused is under the influence of drugs.

In addition, the accused has been convicted a number of times before, including for violence, drug crime and a aggravated robbery.

– I have not been the mother’s best child. I have been in several episodes of violence and been a criminal, but this incident was not my fault. I was in my apartment with the door locked and with the security chain on when three speeding criminals kicked open the door and attacked me in my own apartment, the defendant says in court.

A little over a week has been set aside for the trial in Oslo District Court.
