Hundreds of IS fighters stormed a prison in northeastern Syria last Thursday. There were at least 3,500 IS members who were captured when the terrorist group was defeated in 2019.

The Ghwayran prison is run by the Kurdish self-governing authorities, which control this part of Syria.
