Believes new Snow White recording is a step in the wrong direction

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will get a remake, as many other Disney cartoons have received in recent years.

This is not the Emmy-nominated actor, Peter Dinklage, sure if it should.

Dinklage is known from Game of Thrones and on Monday he was a guest in the podcast of Marc Maron «WTF». Here he asks a number of questions related to the re-creation of the Disney classic.

– I was surprised when they were very proud to give the role of Snøhvit to a Latin American actor. But they still tell the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Take a step back and see what you do, Dinklage said in the podcast.

– They are progressive in a way. But at the same time, they still tell the insanely backward story of seven dwarves living in a cave together.

However, he is open to a remake of the film if Disney comes up with a completely new and progressive way of telling the story, he says in the podcast.

Have a plan

Disney has gone out in The Hollywood Reporter to respond to the criticism from Dinklage.

They can reassure the Emmy actor that they have a whole new approach to the film, than what is in the original.

“To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we take a different approach with these seven characters and have consulted members of the dwarf community,” says Disney.

Got criticism

The remake of the classic has met with criticism earlier in the production as well.

There was a flurry of hate messages when it became known that it is Colombian Rachel Zegler who will play Snøhvit.

Zegler has received harsh criticism for not having the same skin color as Snøhvit.

It writes Glamor Magazine.

– Yes, I’m Snowmobile. No, I’m not going to whiten my skin for the role, Zegler wrote on Twitter. The tweet was later deleted.

The upcoming remake will be directed by Mark Webb.

It has not yet been announced who will play the seven dwarfs.
