“Spider-Man” sets records: – It seems that our cinema guests are now extremely impatient

After several postponements, “Spider-Man” film fans were very, very impatient, according to the program director of Nordisk Film Kino.

– Since Norway was one of the last countries to premiere the film, it is absolutely beautiful to see that there is such great support for the film. It seems as if our cinema guests are now extremely impatient and want to see the film as soon as possible, says program director Christin Berg in Nordisk Film Kino, which operates 21 cinemas.

Last Friday night, the premiere of “Spider-Man No Way Home” in the country’s cinemas. The superhero film with Tom Holland in the title role was supposed to have a 2021 premiere, and was postponed several times due to restrictions on seating and occasionally closed cinemas.

But then it broke loose and an incredible 175,106 tickets were sold over the weekend. Berg calls it “extremely good numbers”.

– It is the fourth best opening weekend since 2003, and the best opening weekend in seven years. It is actually quite incredible that we achieve these figures with a seating capacity of only about 50 percent in the country’s cinemas. And, it’s incredibly fun that it beats the opening weekend of “Avengers: Endgame” with 10,000 visits, says the Nordic Film Cinema program director according to a press release.
