Looking for good female names for the city’s blue sign

Oslo Byes Vel is looking for historic women’s names that deserve a blue sign in the cityscape. The male dominance is great today.

Sigrun Berg (1901–1982) was a Norwegian craftsman, weaver and textile designer. She became especially known for her “Sigrun Berg shawls”, which were popular with the 70s feminists. She had a loom in Damstredet, and there hangs the blue sign.

Today, approx. 450 blue signs cityscape. The cobalt blue enamel signs with text have been set up by the Society for Oslo Byes Vel.

Oslo Byes is now looking for well-deceased female candidates who deserve a blue sign. No signs are put up over living people.
