Danish Jakob Michelsen becomes HamKam coach

NEW COACH: Jakob Michelsen (left) takes over HamKam.

Jakob Michelsen (41) replaces Kjetil Rekdal. The Dane is HamKam’s new head coach.

This is confirmed by the Hamar club on its own website.

The 41-year-old has signed a two-year contract. HamKam announces a press conference with Michelsen next week and does not want to comment on the appointment before.

The Dane has previously won league silver in the Super League with Sønderjyske. He was named coach of the year in Danish football in 2015.

Michelsen has been without a job after he was fired in OB last year.

The general manager of HamKam, Bent Svele, did not respond to VG’s inquiries on Sunday.

The Hamar club has been without a permanent coach after Kjetil Rekdal agreed to take over Rosenborg. This week, national team manager Ståle Solbakken led the team’s training.

HamKam has just been promoted to the Eliteserien after a superb season in the OBOS league last year.
