At least seven people have died and three are missing after a mountain fell off a rock wall and hit several small boats on a lake in Brazil.
Saturday’s accident happened on Lake Furnas in the state of Minas Gerais.
Videos on Twitter and other social media show how tourists drive around in small boats on the lake near a mountain wall when a large party suddenly loosens and falls into the lake.
Several of the boats were hit by the rock masses, and 32 are injured. Nine of them have been hospitalized.
The head of the fire and rescue service in Minas Gerais said early on that as many as 20 could have been missing, but the number was sharply downgraded after it became clear that a good number had managed to get to the hospital on their own.
The exploration work in the lake has been put on hold overnight for safety reasons, but other exploration crews continued the search late Saturday.
Lake Furnas is a popular destination and is located about 420 kilometers north of São Paulo.
There has been heavy rain in the area, and officials say it was probably the reason why the boulder came loose.
