What can the hospitals really stand for? Fewer patients are now coming in than before the pandemic.

The flow of patients is now less than before the pandemic. The hospitals received more patients in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

A coronary patient under treatment at the emergency department at Rikshospitalet last year. New figures show that a total of 4,738 patients were hospitalized with serious respiratory infections in December. This 20 percent fewer patients than in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 before the pandemic.

On 13 December, Norway was partially shut down. The government described the situation as very serious.

A new, big wave was on its way already in December, according to FHI. The health service was close to congestion, was the argument made by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labor Party).
