  • The government of Kazakhstan is now commenting on last week’s anti-government protests, according to the country’s interior minister, 26 protesters, whom he describes as armed criminals, have been killed.

  • The president of Kazakhstan says that “the constitutional order in the country has essentially been restored”.

  • Since the New Year’s weekend, the protests against high fuel prices have led to unrest, clashes and riots.
