The United States reports that 21 people were allowed to spend much of New Year’s Eve in a cable car in a national park in the state of New Mexico.
It was restaurant staff who had just finished their shift who got stuck, in a snowstorm and sub-zero temperatures, when the cabin runway suddenly stopped due to ice formation.
It took the rescue service four hours to walk up the mountain and then get to the cabin car to be able to winch the stranded to safety via a rope system.
