  • The United States reports that 21 people were allowed to spend much of New Year’s Eve in a cable car in a national park in the state of New Mexico.

  • It was restaurant staff who had just finished their shift who got stuck, in a snowstorm and sub-zero temperatures, when the cabin runway suddenly stopped due to ice formation.

  • It took the rescue service four hours to walk up the mountain and then get to the cabin car to be able to winch the stranded to safety via a rope system.
