French handball star stabbed in Paris

French handball star Elohim Prandi from Paris Saint-Germain was stabbed on New Year’s Eve in Paris, his club reports.

Elohim Prandi in action for France against Norway in the European Championship play-offs two years ago.

In the message on PSGs website it says that he was stabbed several times. He is under observation in hospital, and his condition does not give cause for concern.

TV 2 was the first Norwegian media to report on the incident.

– The club expresses its indignation over the attack and gives its full support to Elohim Prandi and his family, it says. Paris police have launched an investigation.

Earlier Saturday, it became clear that Olympic champion France must do without Luka Karabatic in the European Championships. He too is a PSG player and he has a thigh injury. From before, Olympic champion Nedim Remili has reported injury cancellation to the European Championships.

France has also had corona infection in the squad in the run-up to the championship, which begins on 13 January.
