John Arne Riise becomes Avaldsnes coach: – I can make the club even better

The former star player’s coaching career is taking an unexpected direction.

John Arne Riise moves from Tønsberg to become head coach in Avaldsnes.

Avaldsnes struck with a profiled and well-known name when they presented the successor to coaches Thomas Dahle and Kolbjørn Fosen on Wednesday. Former Liverpool player John Arne Riise (41) will take over as coach for the Toppserie team ahead of next season.

Riise comes from the job as coach for Flint Tønsberg. He coached the club for two years, had the first season ruined by the corona pandemic, and relegated to the 4th division with the team after this year’s season.
