Barbados removes the queen. More countries can follow.

Queen Elizabeth is far more popular than her descendant. It can present problems.

Barbados is the last country to remove Queen Elizabeth as head of state, in favor of a republic.

November 30 marks the end of Barbados’ ties to Britain and the colonial era. Until now, Queen Elizabeth has been head of state in 16 countries, including Barbados.

On Tuesday, she will be replaced by another woman. Gov. Sandra Mason will be sworn in as the country’s first president, according to the BBC.
