Fisker Ocean: Starts with a launch model – here are the prices

Fisker Karma debuted 13 years ago and attracted a lot of attention. Danish-born Henrik Fisker behind the rechargeable hybrid with a look that differed from most other things on the roads.

Among other things, Fisker had worked as a car designer, with dream cars such as the BMW Z8 and Aston Martin DB9 on his conscience. Now he was starting his own car brand, and the ambitions were great.

However, it did not take long before it became clear that this was far from going smoothly. After many problems, it ended in bankruptcy, with less than 2,500 cars produced in total.

Coming to Norway in late 2022

Henrik Fisker did not give up so easily. He continued to work on his dream and by next year it is ready for a comeback.

This is when the electric Fisker Ocean comes on the market. We at Broom have just taken a closer look at the car, at the big car show in Los Angeles. There we also met a very enthusiastic Henrik Fisker, who is now looking forward to the launch of the car.

On November 17 next year, it will go into production, in Austria. The first cars are expected to be delivered to Norwegian customers towards the end of the year.

The first time Fisker Karma was shown in Norway was at the Broom festival!

Broom’s editor-in-chief Vegard Møller Johnsen met Henrik Fisker at the car show in Los Angeles which is taking place right now.

Intro model in 5,000 copies

Fisker starts with a separate launch version called Ocean One. This will be produced in only 5,000 copies and will have all equipment on board. The price of this will be 625,000 kroner. If it goes as Fisker himself hopes, it can probably be smart to be out early to secure a copy.

Later, Fisker follows up with several variants. The entry-level model is called Ocean Sport and starts at a favorable NOK 372,000. Then follows Ocean Ultra for 510,000 kroner, while Ocean Extreme gets the same price as One, ie 625,000 kroner.

Compared to Model Y

Fisker Ocean comes with two battery packs. The range is 440 kilometers on the entry-level model Sport. Ultra has a range of 610 kilometers, while Extreme and One have a range of 630 kilometers.

The latter two have two engines and four-wheel drive. Ultra does 0-100 km / h in 4 seconds, the same figure for Extreme is 3.7 seconds.

In the US, many people compare Ocean to the Tesla Model Y. This is true in some ways, but at the same time the two are quite different from each other. The Ocean is a full-fledged family car. The luggage compartment will also be large. Preliminary figures indicate 566 liters – which increases to 1,275 liters, when you put your back on the back seats.

Reduces costs

Fisker does not initially have its own factory. Ocean will be produced by Magna Steyr in Austria. They have solid traditions of building cars for established manufacturers. Among the models that have rolled out from here are the Mercedes M-Class, Saab 9-3 convertible and BMW X3. Today, the BMW 5 Series, Jaguar E-Pace and I-Pace, among others, are produced at the factory in Austria.

In this way, Fisker gets the costs down in the beginning. It costs huge sums to build a completely new car factory, at the same time as it takes time to get production up and running. This is exactly what Tesla experienced painfully with its Model 3.

By renting from an external partner, you avoid this, at the same time as this way of building cars provides a great degree of flexibility.
