Claims Solskjær can get almost 90 million in the final package

In August, Ole Gunnar Solskjær signed a new contract with Manchester United. Now his time in Manchester is over, according to The Times. The only thing left is to negotiate the final package.

Storavisen claims that the Manchester United board on Saturday night decided to fire the Norwegian from his job as manager. TV 2 is also informed that the decision has now been made.

The same is reported by the Manchester Evening News, which writes that it is expected that technical director Darren Fletcher will take over temporarily.

According to the newspaper, there is now a lucrative severance package awaiting Solskjær, because his new contract contains a clause that provides one year’s salary in compensation if he is fired.

The Times claims to know that it costs £ 7.5 million to terminate the contract three years prematurely. This means that Solskjær will receive NOK 89 million in the final package.

After the 1-4 loss against Watford on Saturday, Solskjør was asked if he would have understood that the board wanted a new manager after the recent results.

– I work for and with the club. I have been here for 18 years and we have good communication. If the club intends to make any changes, it is a conversation between me and the club, and not me and you, Solskjær said.

When asked how worried he is about losing his job, he answers:

– It’s not my job to worry about. I work as hard and well as I can with the fantastic support system I have. We have fantastic players, but at the moment we are not getting good results. I understand your question, but I will not discuss it with you.

According to The Times, the club has intensified its search for former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. He knows this summer’s star signing Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo very well from his time in Madrid.

Other alternatives will be Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and Brendan Rodgers.
