Casper Ruud with magical retrieval and sensational semifinal

Ruud has lost his two previous matches against Daniil Medvedev.

It started smoothly before world number one Djokovic overtook Casper Ruud in the second set in Turin. The set numbers were 6-7 and 2-6.

After Stefanos Tsitsipas had to withdraw from the tournament in Turin due to an elbow injury, the British Norrie came in as a reserve in Ruud’s group. The Norwegian won 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The winner of Friday’s duel will face world number two Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals. The Russian beat the reserve Jannik Sinner 6-0, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (8). Sinner took the place of compatriot Matteo Berrettini, who had to give up after an injury in the opening match against Alexander Zverev.
